I have to tell you a secret. The lens flare in this picture is fake. (Gasp!) I've been trying like crazy to figure out how to shoot sun flare and make it reflect and look pretty in my pictures, but it's just not happening. So I added it while editing. It makes me wonder if professional photogs use fake lens flare as well. I'm guessing yes.

I think they do use a fake one sometimes.. but if you get at the right angle you can let it in just a little bit.

I use GIMP. You can download it off the web for free. It's comparable to Photoshop. It's not very user friendly, so you will need to look for tutorials online to help you get going.
